The Kentucky Wood Expo will celebrate the twenty-sixth anniversary of the show by returning to Madisonville, KY at the Hopkins County Fairgrounds just west of the Pennyrile Parkway (Hwy 69) exit 42, about one mile on the right side of Hwy 70. The Expo will take place on Friday, September 19 and Saturday, September 20. The annual Wood Expo, which the Tourism Council has ranked as one of the top 10 tourist events in Kentucky, is expected to draw 6,000-8,000 visitors from around the region. Attendees will be able to see all types of forestry equipment and enjoy a wide range of entertainment for the entire family.
The Kentucky Wood Expo will feature approximately 100 exhibits and demonstrations for the entire wood industry. Sawmill, pallet, logging, secondary, and all types of wood processing machinery will be on display along with a wide range of support services. Educational displays will also be present and a number of groups will be available to talk forest management and the promising future of the wood industry in Kentucky. Logger education classes will be conducted during the show.
Other activities will include lumberjack competitions, equipment contests, country and bluegrass music, crafts and not to mention food and good times for everyone. Lumberjack demonstrations will take place in the arena on both days and the Expo will feature the return of pole climbing and log rolling events along with the Kentucky lumberjack championship on Saturday. Local logging operators will also get in on the action and compete in the log loading and skidder competitions.
The show offers quality entertainment for the entire family. Advanced tickets can be purchased for only $3 by calling the KFIA office at 502/695-3979. Parking is free and entry to the show costs only $5 at the gate and $2 for children age 6-12 (children under 6 are free). The grounds will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday and 8:30 to 4:30 on Saturday. Dont miss all the fun and excitement at the Kentucky Wood Expo in Madisonville, KY on September 19 & 20.
